Handbooks, policies, and guides

The customer journey needs to be less like a journey and more like an adventure. We’re talking The Hobbit vibes here… But maybe leave the dragons out of it.

When I write a handbook, policy, or guide, the first and last thing I think about is your customer. What do they need to know and how can I make this experience a delightful one?

Some reasons why you would want your policies to delight your customers:

1. It shows them that you take pride in what you do. And why take pride in something that isn’t worth the hype?

2. It ensures that your content is sticky, right down to the last drop.

3. It makes you stand out from the crowd, which isn’t always easy. (It’s a pretty loud crowd.)

Unless you’re writing baby books and lullabies, you don’t want to be sending your customers to sleep with your policies and guides. You want to be remembered - ideally, for the good stuff.

So your lovely tone of voice needs to run through every single bit of content that comes out of your company’s mouth - external and internal comms!

Some examples of my work…

Wellbeing Policy

I’ve worked with onHand on multiple projects across B2B and B2C marketing campaigns. This little number was actually used in both. I put together a wellbeing policy for them to use internally but, in the name of transparency, we also pushed it out to the big wide world. It was used to show other companies how they could put together their own policy, explain how onHand can help with employee wellbeing, and attract a bunch of leads or course.

Workplace Stress Guide

This guide is another piece I did for onHand. It’s full of research around employee wellbeing and provides tips on how businesses can better support their employees.

This was used to showcase onHand’s services to other businesses and generate leads, at the same time as offering some free tips that could be implemented straight away. Now when people think of employee wellbeing, they think of onHand.

Eco-Anxiety Handbook

It does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Eco-anxiety is on the rise, and we need to deal with it ASAP if we’re going to fix the climate crisis.

This handbook is intended for anyone and everyone feeling bogged down by climate anxiety. It teaches you how to process difficult emotions and turn them into positive action!
